The counsel on behalf of the CRPF today submitted before the Upendra Commission of Inquiry to confine the inquiry only within the areas of the terms and reference prescribed in the inquiry.
Deposing before the commission today at Kuki Inn the CRPF counsel said June 18 can be termed as a black day not only because of the death of 14 persons but also because of large scale violence wherein the Assembly Secretariat was destroyed.
Giving his final argument before the Commission today, the CRPF counsel said that the agitators on June 18 was violent and added that a good number of security personnel were hurt when they came under attack from the agitators.
The security personnel exercised maximum restraint while trying to control the uprising, he said and added that lathi charge and tear gas could not quell the agitators.
The security personnel had to resort to firing as the last means, he contended.
