Imphal, December 30 2021: The affected land owners of National Highway-37 expansion have banned the construction of the said National Highway between Keithelmanbi and Charoi Pandongba in Kangpokpi district.

Speaking to the media during a press conference held today at Manipur Press Club, general secretary of Kuki Inpi, Molttamlhang Haokai Sitlhou, on behalf of the affected land owners, stated that the step to ban the National Highway construction was taken up by the affected land owners residing along NH-37 between Keithelmanbi and Charoi Pandongba as the State Government had failed to fulfil its commitment of disbursing land compensation to the same villagers before Christmas eve.

He continued that the DC of Kangpokpi had earlier claimed that higher authorities had transferred the land compensation of the villagers into his account and reassured the villagers of disbursing the same before Christmas.

The general secretary added that they are left in a state of confusion by the inaction of the State Government, who which not even provided details of the compensation to the disgruntled villagers.
