Ukhrul, October 30 2020:
The general assembly of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has re-affirmed the decision of 2005 to put their trust and confidence on the collective leadership of the NSCN (IM) under Th Muivah to bring a political settlement.
Speaker of the TNL, Shangam A Shipo said that on October 23, 2005, the TNL assembly had affirmed their decision to give their mandate to the collective leadership of NSCN (IM) .
This decision was taken during the consultative meeting of all Naga tribe leaders and representatives at Hebron, Dimapur in 2005, he recalled.
Shipo continued that the Tangkhul community will continue to extend unflinching support to the NSCN (IM) until the political aspiration for self determination is achieved.
"Our Naga National movement is more than seven decades old and the political negotiation is over 23 years after inking the ceasefire agreement in 1997 and the stand of the Nagas for their political rights remain unchanged," said the TNL speaker.
Naga political settlement should be based on the Framework Agreement signed between the NSCN (IM) and the Government of India in 2015, he added.
According to Shipo, apart from reiterating its earlier stand, the TNL assembly also stands by the demand to integrate all Naga contiguous areas under one administrative unit and added that the Naga flag and a separate Naga Constitution should be an integral part of any political settlement.
He further mentioned that Naga community also understands the situation of India, however any political solution without "Naga flag, Naga Constitution and Naga unification " is not acceptable and would be a betrayal of the hard earned peace talk.
TNL further urged the Naga leaders as well as the leaders of India who are engaged in the dialogue to take the process to a logical conclusion.
