Fitting homage was paid to former CM late Yangmasho Shaiza on his 31st death anniversary today, reports Mungchan Zimik from Ukhrul.
Mayo Shaiza and Chanreila Shaiza, brother and sister of late Y Shaiza led the gathering in paying homage at Tangrei, Ukhrul, the birth place of (L) Y Shaiza.
Daughter in-law of late Yangmaso Shaiza, Soso Shaiza delivering the key note address on behalf of the Yangmasho Shaiza Memorial Trust appealed to the State Government to construct a park and erect a statue of late Yangmasho Shaiza either at Imphal or Ukhrul.
She remembered Y Shaiza as a man of integrity.
Apart from his successful political career, he was a renowned sports personality.
She expressed her gratitude to the United All Communities Social Uplifters, Kangleipak (UNACSU) for their keen interest in upholding the footsteps of the former Chief Minister.
Dr Homen Thangjam, Asst Professor, MB College and President UNACSU Laishram Biren in their exhortations expressed their preparedness to support and pursue the State Government to acknowledge the exemplary service of the late Y Shaiza.
N Luikham, retd IAS officer, PR Yangkahao, retd Chairman, BSEM, W Victor Kaping, Retd Jt Director T/D and Dr Shimreingam Hungyo, Professor at Pettigrew College also shared their association with the late Yangmasho Shaiza.
As a part of the commemoration programme, a leela (play) was also staged at LAES campus.
