Centre, State submit reply

Responding to a notice issued by a Division Bench of the High Court of Manipur on November 27, the respondents (State Government and Union of India) today submitted replies in connection with a writ petition filed by younger brother of Laishram Kamalbabu who has gone missing since November 25 from the heavily fortified 57 Mountain Division Headquarters, Leimakhong.
The writ petition was listed for hearing today before the Division Bench comprising Chief Justice D Krishnakumar and Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu Kabui.
H Debendra, Deputy Advocate General representing the State Government respondents Chief Secretary, Security Advisor, DGP, Commissioner (Home), SP Imphal West and OC Sekmai Police Station submitted that massive search is on to find the missing man by combined teams of State police, paramilitary forces and Indian Army at different places.
Although the whereabouts of the missing person is not known yet, the search operations are going on.
The Deputy Advocate General also submitted that a regular FIR has been lodged at Gamnom Sapermeina police station corresponding to the FIR registered at Sekmai police station and investigation is undergoing.
Central Government standing counsel of the GOC, 57Mountain Division also submitted that search is on for the missing person by using sniffer dogs inside the Leimakhong camp and in different villages located in the surrounding area outside their campus.
The army is also helping the search teams of the State Police and paramilitary forces by providing choppers for aerial survey of the missing person.
Saying that the petitioner is also cooperating with the respondents, the counsel sought more time to file an additional report before the Court.
The Court, after hearing the submissions of the petitioner's counsel, State Government counsel and the Central Government's standing counsel, listed the case for further hearing on December 3 .
