50 bedded Ukhrul dist hospital handed over, says CM Ibobi

Ukhrul, October 29 2016:
Although the official inauguration programme of the newly constructed 50 bedded district hospital at Hungpung, Ukhrul has been deferred indefinitely, Chief Minister O Ibobi has stated that seeing the necessity and demand for health care in the district, the 50 bedded district hospital has been allowed to be commissioned for functioning from October 28 .
The CM said this while briefing media persons from the hills yesterday on the development projects taken up about the State Government in the hill districts during his tenure as Chief Minister at his Secretariat.
Members of the Manipur Hill Journalists' Union ( MHJU) drawn from Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur, Tamenglong and Chandel attended the media briefing.

The MHJU team was led by its president Sothing Shimray and lasted for about 3 hours. Sothing Shimray expressed gratitude to the CM and the Council of Ministers for acknowledging the role of hill journalists and appealed to the Chief Minister to have frequent press briefings, which can help the media to highlight the various developmental programme taken up in the hill districts and at the same time create a better avenue to address the problems and issues of the hill people.
The CM noted the suggestions of MHJU and as part of his immediate initiative, he informed that "a one day media training programme for hill journalists would be organized at Sendra next month" .
During a brief interaction with this correspondent today, the CMO of Ukhrul said that basic requirements like X-ray machine, ultrasound machine have been installed while electrification and water pipe fitting have been finalised to run the hospital smoothly.
Shipments of hospital furniture, equipment, machines would be completed by today, he added.
From Monday onward the normal functioning of the hospital like OPD, emergency, will be held at the new hospital.
