Nambul, Naga nullah project on in full swing

Imphal, March 29 2012:
Naga Nullah Nambul River project, for which construction works are in full swing, will be completed during 2012-2013 fiscal year.
The stretch between Khoyathong to Keishampat junction at the heart of the State capital will witness a major facelift after the project is completed, said an official of Manipur Housing and Urban Development (MAHUD) .
The project is being taken up by MAHUD with funds from the Union Ministry of Urban Development.
The main objective of the project is to facelift the stretch from Khoyathong to Keishampat junction by constructing a 12-feet road on the eastern banks of Naga nullah and Nambul river, the official added.
The official said that necessary compensation amount for land acquisition and eviction of encroachers has been earmarked for the construction of the road.
In this regard, Planning and Development Authority and IFCD have been entrusted for identification of encroachers.

Saying that most of the time consuming works for the project have been completed so far, the official added that construction of concrete roof above Naga nullah has also been started.
Informing that waste material dumped into Naga nullah have been cleared for the project, the official said that VDF personnel are keeping round the clock vigil to check further dumping of waste material.
The residents have been directed to dump waste material into dustbins kept at different points along the stretch, he added.
