Imphal, January 29 2015 :
Flatly rejecting the news report about KNF cadres attacking troops of 8 Assam Rifles at Kadangband yesterday which resulted in two fatal casualties, the KNF alleged that it was a clear case of fake encounter.
KNF's central CAO Robert Kuki and his friends were returning home from Kangchup after attending a meeting with local Kuki Inpi leaders when he was stopped by troops of 8 AR at Kadangband.
Even as the vehicle pulled over and the interior light was put on, a Captain and his boys started firing indiscriminately towards the vehicle killing the driver and Robert who was seated on the front seat.
Moreover, three people seated on the back seat received several bullet injuries.
Khupneilal Neihsiel who drove the vehicle was the vice-president of Kuki Inpi, Kangchup Tuibul area and also the secretary of Kangchup village authority, said a press release issued by KNF information and publicity secretary LH Stephen.
Strongly condemning the act of opening fire indiscriminately at innocent civilians and unarmed KNF cadres who are currently under SoO pact, the KNF asserted "We cannot have army officers amidst us who have no respect for human life, who are not aware of the SoO ground rules nor are aware of international human rights" .
If the people inside the vehicle were armed with automatic rifles as claimed by 8th AR, then why the AR troops did not recover any weapons after killing and injuring all the people travelling in the vehicle, asked the outfit adding that it was a clear case of fake encounter.
The officers and jawans responsible for carrying out this heinous crime should be removed immediately from their respective posts and a CBI inquiry should be conducted in the interest of peace and harmony, the outfit demanded.
