Grenade placed at GP College gate

A hand grenade along with a note that said "down with fascist education..." were found placed at the main entrance gate of GP Women's College today.
Ghanapriya (GP) Women's College is located some 100 metres from Governor's residence, Raj Bhavan and the area falls under Imphal police station.
The area is highly fortified for just a few metes away is the 1st Manipur Rifles.
The hand grenade was noticed by passers-by in the morning.
It is suspected to have been planted by unknown miscreants in the wee hours.
A piece of paper found with the hand grenade read "down with fascist education, glory to the proletarian students and free education movement" .
After police were alerted, the hand-grenade was recovered by a team of State bomb experts and disposed of safely at Lamphel dumping site.
Denouncing the bomb threat, students staged a sit in protest in front of the college's main gate.
The students vehemently condemned the incident and urged individuals or groups concerned to own up and state the reason behind the threat.
"Targeting the college and threatening students' safety must be stopped.
If they have anything against the college, they should approach the authorities.
Students' lives must not be put in danger and the college's educational environment must never be disturbed," said the student protesters.
