Candle light vigil prays for peace

Under the aegis of the Naga Students' Federation (NSF), a 'Candle light vigil and prayer session' was organized throughout in Naga areas on October 28 at 5 pm to "express solidarity with our Naga negotiators and also for lasting peace and tranquility to prevail in our Naga homeland" .
The programme was organized in towns and villages in the State of Nagaland and also in the districts of Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Chandel and Senapati in the State of Manipur this evening.
At Senapati the vigil was organised by the Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) .

The NSF had stated on Sunday that the student body is for "inclusive, honourable and acceptable solution to the protracted Indo-Naga peace process" .
On October 23, the NSF and its federating units had written to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi demanding that the "unique Naga identity" be recognized through the Naga National flag which is dear to the hearts and minds of the Naga people.
At Ukhrul the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) today held a candle light vigil and special prayer session in support of the ongoing Indo-Naga peace for an honourable solution today at Gandhi Chowk Phungreitang, Ukhrul.
The candle light vigil was held to show support and solidarity to the Naga negotiators for an inclusive, honourable and acceptable solution to the protracted Indo-Naga peace process.
Leader of TNL V Tuisem while speaking at the programme said that the Tangkhul community will observe the whole week as fast and prayer week for Naga issue.
Tangkhuls will pray for Naga leaders and Indian leaders involved in the talk and to bless them with wisdom in order to bring a permanent solution and also for the unity of the Naga community.
V Tuisem also said that NSF has approached the international community to support the Naga cause for self determination.
Rev Dr Mathotmi Vasha executive secretary TBCA who lit the candle said that the light signifies that the "Naga people belong to God" and was followed by a prayer from him.
The Naga Students' Union, Chandel also held a candle light vigil today to show solidarity of the negotiators and to pray for an inclusive, honourable and acceptable solution to the Indo-Naga issue.
The student body also expressed gratitude to all the frontal organisations, civil societies, tribe hohos, chief associations, student bodies and the public for extending support to the candle light vigil.
