Food safety drive

Imphal, September 27 2017: A combined team of Imphal West district police and Food Safety and Standard Enforcement Wing carried out a surprise food safety drive yesterday to check whether hotels, sweetshops and cafeteria, in and around Imphal City, are adhering to the food safety and standard rules and norms .

The drive was led by L Priyadarshini, Additional SP (Law and Order) Imphal West and designated officer of the Food Safety and Standard Enforcement Wing, Imphal West .

Drives were carried out in the hotels, sweet shops and eateries located at Thangal bazar and Paona bazar, to ensure availability of safe food for human consumption .

During the drive, most of the hotels and sweetshops, were found following the guidelines laid down by the Food Safety and Standard Enforcement Wing .

The team also gave them directions for further improvement .

On the other hand, Imphal Sweets (Allu Gali) and Radhakrishna Sweets (BT Road) were found violating the norms and were forced to shut down until and unless the hotels fulfil the conditions of the rules and regulations of the Food Safety and Standard Act 2006 .
