Shangshak to Khonglo stretch Road construction work begins

Construction of Shangshak to Khonglo section of NH 102-A began yesterday.
Notably, the project was among the 13 projects for which foundation stones were laid by Union Minister of Highways and Road Transport Nitin Gadkari recently.
Foundation stones for 13 projects for construction of three National Highways namely; NH 102-A, NH 102-B and NH 202 amounting to Rs 3000 crore were laid by Nitin Gadkari on August 17.Two among the 13 projects are being handled by the State PWD.

The two projects are for Shangshak to Khonglo and Kasom Khullen Lamkhai to Tengnoupal sections of NH 102-A.Construction of Khonglo to Kasom Khullen portion had already begun and this portion lies between Sangshak and Khonglo and Kasom Khullen Lamkhai to Tengnoupal sections.
Meanwhile, survey work for development of the 202 Kms long Sangshak-Tengnoupal road as a standard National Highway is on the verge of completion.
The road would be 10 metres wide when it is developed as a National Highway but the current repairing work would be confined to the existing width of 3.75 metres.
In connection with the restoration and rehabilitation work of Sangshak-Khonglo section, a public function was held at Phungyar Town Hall yesterday, MLA K Leishiyo said and added that survey work for upgrading the road as NH 102-A is almost complete.
The project already sanctioned would be restricted to black-topping the road with a bitumen layer of thickness 22 mm and the same project would be completed within two years, he said.
Talking about the road infrastructure of Kamjong district, Leishiyo said that a proposal for construction of the road from Finch Corner to Nambashi has been approved by the Government.
The 89 Kms long road would be constructed by NHIDCL and the MoRTH would sanction Rs 1478.26 crore for the particular project.
Another amount of Rs 800 crore is likely to be sanctioned for construction of Nambashi to Kasom Bungdung road via Kangpat Khullen.
The amount is likely to be sanctioned by 2022-23 at the latest, he claimed.
Formation cutting for development of Kamjong-Huimin Thana road under NEARSDS at the cost of Rs 147 crore is also on the verge of completion.
A proposal has been sent for development of the road from Kasom Bungdung to Namli under PMGSY.
Another road from Shirui to Kachouphung is being constructed under PMGSY, he said.
The MLA informed that a work programme has been prepared under which potable water would be made available to all villages of Kamjong district.
