Imphal, December 26 2014 :
Altogether eight human skulls and a number of skeletons have been recovered during excavation of Tombisana High School cam-pus located just opposite to the old Manipur Legislative Assembly building which now serves as FCI office.
Earth removed from Tombisana High School campus which has now been abolished was being used for land development works of the Civil Secretariat office being constructed at Mantr-ipukhri.
Labourers were levelling a truck load of earth brought from the erstwhile high school campus last morning when they came across a skull and some skeletons.
On further searching the mound of earth, six more skulls and a large number of skeletons were recovered, informed a source.

Even though top officers of Imphal East district police came to the construction site yesterday itself, they cordoned off the area as it became dark.
Examination of the discovered items started this morning.
Apart from a mobile team of Manipur Police Forensic Science Laboratory, a team of Anthropology Department, Manipur University arrived at the spot for examination of the skulls and the skeletons.
One more skull was also discovered this morning along with some jewellery items.
One expert opined that the skeletons and the skulls were buried for 17 to 40 years.
However, he conceded that he could not say the sex of the people whose skeleton remains have been unearthed.
Police have picked and deposited the skeleton remains at JNIMS morgue while an unidentified death case has been registered at Heingang police station.
Incidentally, CRPF jawans and police commandos of City Unit once occupied Tombisana High School campus which has been abolished.
