KEMKAL warns of 48 hour bandh if road not repaired

The Kege Moirang Kendra Apunba Lup (KEMKAL) on Thursday appealed to the State Government to repair the stretch of road from Moirang Lamkhai to Moirang Bazar before August 31and warned of a 48 hour bandh if the Government failed to comply with the demands of the association.
The proposed 48 hour bandh of KEMKAL would begin from the intervening night of August 31 and September 1, said Hemam Somikanta, general secretary, KEMKAL during a press conference held at the office premises of KEMKAL.

Speaking on the occasion, Hemam Somikanta stated a public meeting held at Moirang Leikopung Community Hall yesterday resolved to intensify its agitation in case the construction work of the road stretch of about 1.5 Km from Moirang Lamkhai to Moirang Bazar under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) was not done properly by the authority concerned.
He said that essential services, medical services and religious activities would be permitted during the proposed 48 hour bandh.
The press conference was also attended by KEMKAL joint secretary, L Boy; publicity secretary, Ph Shyamjai; drafting committee, A Shyamkumar and executive member, S Bonison.
