State level Seminar on promotion and welfare for women with disabilities

Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW), under the sponsorship of National Commission for Women organized a Two days State Level Seminar on Promotion and Welfare for Women with Disabilities today.
Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, Nemcha Kipgen Minister Social Welfare & Cooperation said that Manipur State Commission for Women has been working tirelessly for the empowerment of women in the state and that the Commission has solved 666 cases out of a total of 701 received since its inception, adding that MSCW has been conducting spot enquiry for those aggrieved women.
Referring to the various issues and challenges faced especially by those differently- abled women in the state which restrict their ability to play significant roles in the society, she expressed hope that such seminar will serve as a platform for these women to open doors for their self sustainability and independence.
The Minister also mentioned various innovative schemes introduced by the union government for empowering the differently abled persons of the state including scheme of scholarship for person with disabilities, scheme for providing employment with disabilities, assistance to disabled persons for purchase/fitting of aids and appliances, schemes of Deen Dayal disabled rehabilitation to promote voluntary action for person with disabilities, schemes of national award for the employment of person with disability, among others.
She also urged the people of the state to take the pledge to walk hand in hand with the differently abled persons and bring them to the mainstream for inclusive growth.
