PMGSY 9th phase from Feb

The ninth phase of the Prime Minister's Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) would be implemented in the State starting from February next year.
Around Rs 577 crore would be spent during the same phase and it would focus on road connectivity in hill districts, stated Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Francis Ngajokpa.
Francis Ngajokpa was speaking at a calendar release function held at his Old Secretariat office today.
The calendar released ahead of the Christmas festival contains photographs of works/projects executed by RD&PR Department and it was produced by the Manipur State Rural Road Development Agency (MSRRDA) which is the work agency of the department.
The Minister stated that 200 different road development projects would be executed starting from February next year within the ninth phase of PMGSY.
Roads measuring 200 Kms in aggregate would be developed/constructed within 20 Assembly segments of the valley.
The remaining works would be executed in the hill districts.
Out of Rs 577 crore which would be spent during the ninth phase of PMGSY, Rs 106 crore would be invested in valley districts while the remaining amount would go to hill districts.
Percentage-wise, 20 per cent of the fund available under the ninth phase would be invested in valley districts and 80 per cent would utilised for enhancing road connectivity in hill districts, he said.
The road development projects have been distributed between the valley and hill districts in the said ratio in line with the Chief Minister's strict instruction to enhance road connectivity in hill districts.
For the 10th phase of PMGSY, the department has already submitted a DPR listing 226 different road development/construction projects.
Like in the ninth phase, 80 per cent of the road development projects listed in the 10th phase would be executed in hill districts.
Execution of road development projects taken up under the eighth phase of PMGSY is progressing presently.
The 8th phase targeted development/construction of 502 Kms of roads and so far 285 Kms have been developed/constructed.
The total amount sanctioned for the 8th phase was Rs 254 crore, Francis Ngajokpa stated.
