Acting chairman of PREPAK, two others killed in road mishap

Imphal, May 24 2021: At least three cadres of People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), including its acting chairman Khumujam Ratan @ Sathy @ Hera @ Awangba Meitei (58) of Singjamei Chinga Makha Sorokhaibam Leikai died in a road accident at a hilly region, yesterday.

The untimely demise of the three cadres has left an irreparable loss to the outfit, mourned PREPAK.

According to the outfit, the other two deceased have been identified as Mayengbam Joychand @ Joy Luwang @ Chamba @ Michael of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai, organisation secretary of the outfit and GSO-1 RK Ramananda @ Basan @ Rozer of Sagolband Bijoy Gobinda.

PREPAK said that Sathy who joined the outfit in March 1982 was appointed as its acting chairman in November 2014.He was a treasurer of CorCom.

Michael and RK Rozer joined the outfit in 1994 and 1996 respectively, according to PREPAK.

Michael was a standing member of CorCom's home committee.

The outfit said that Michael and RK Rozer took over the charge of organisation secretary and GSO-1 of the party in June 2011 and November 2014 respectively.

PREPAK, on the other hand, dissolved its central committee due to the death of the acting chairman.

Saying that a 5 member Interim Council (IC) has been formed, the outfit informed that Aheiba Angom has been appointed as the chairman and finance secretary of the council unanimously.

The Interim Council will supervise the party functioning until a new Central Committee is floated, it added.
