Imphal, July 23 2024:
The Sekmai gas bottling plant of the IOCL has supplied 20 truckloads of refilled LPG cylinders to distributors today.
While 40 truckloads of refilled LPG cylinders were supplied to distributors yesterday, the number was reduced and only 20 truckloads were supplied today.
Another 20 truckloads of refilled cylinders will be supplied to distributors tomorrow, said sources.
Notably, the supply came after a top official of the Government stated that the State had ample stock of LPG.
Meanwhile, in a relief for the State, a total of 51 tankers loaded with POL and LPG have reached Imphal from Noney today.
The 51 tankers include 4 carrying LPG, 30 loaded with petrol and 17 carrying diesel.
A source said the Sekmai bottling plant has a stock of 558 MT of LPG including the loads delivered by the 4 trucks today.
If the plant supplies 20 truckloads of refilled cylinders daily, the stock would last 6 days.
The stock is not enough to meet the current demand, added the source.
Even as the loaded LPG and POL tankers have arrived, empty tankers didn't leave Imphal today either.
An important functionary of the All Manipur Petroleum Product Transporters said empty tankers may not go tomorrow either.
He cited the deteriorating condition of the Imphal-Jiribam road as the reason and said, the tankers are giving the NHIDCL a window of 3-days to repair the road.
