29 security personnel, one more Pradhan test positive

Imphal, July 23 2020:
Altogether 29 security personnel including 12 army personnel, 11 Assam Rifles men and six CRPF men, and one more Pradhan have been tested positive for COVID-19 in the State during the last 24 hours.
Sources informed that 12 army personnel posted at Leimakhong garrison and 11 personnel of 37 AR posted at Kadamtala, Jiribam have been tested positive for COVD-19 .
The 11 personnel of 37 AR were confirmed to be positive after rapid antigen test at Jiribam district hospital.
So far, 41 personnel of 37 AR have been tested positive for COVID-19 .
Meanwhile, six personnel of 109 Bn CRPF posted at Mongsangei too have been tested positive for the contagion.
The Mongsangei battalion of CRPF was already declared a containment zone after one personnel was tested positive earlier.
Four civilians including one Pradhan of Lilong Haoreibi were also found to be positive after rapid antigen test at Thoubal district hospital today.
On the other hand necessary arrangements have been made for testing around 200 staff of MSPDCL office located at North AOC after one peon working at the office tested positive for the virus.
The peon hails from Thoubal district.
In addition to one Grade IV employee of Thoubal district hospital, one Head Constable of Thoubal Police has been tested positive.
According to information received from RIMS, one UDC working at the Department of Plastic Surgery was tested positive.
The UDC was staying in the quarantine centre of RIMS.
While the UDC's family members have been picked for COVID-19 test, 200 staff of RIMS including the Medical Superintendent were tested for the virus this evening.
After the mother of a medical student of JNIMS was tested positive, 10 contacts of the women were tested and they turned out to be negative.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar, 55 people (50 males, five females) tested positive at RIMS, JNIMS, Thoubal district hospital and Babina Diagnostics during the last 24 hours.
Out of them, 12 have history of travelling to Thoubal district while the others are returnees from outside the State.
Of the 55 people tested positive for COVID-19, six belong to Imphal West, three to Kakching, one to Kamjong, 12 to Leimakhong military garrison, one to Tengnoupal, 31 to Thoubal and one to Ukhrul.
On the other hand, 42 people were discharged during the last 24 hours after recovery from COVID-19 .
27 of them were treated at CCC Meitram, three each at CCC Senapati, CCC Kakching and CCC Thoubal, and six at RD Wing Lamphelpat.
The total number of positive cases as of Thursday is 2130 and the recovery rate is 69.03 per cent.
Since the launch of the rapid antigen testing camp at Thoubal district hospital on July 16, 756 persons who had close contact with COVID-19 positive patients have been tested and 53 have been found positive for the virus.
The district at present has about 20 persons in isolation at the district hospital and another 88 in isolation at GNM School of Nursing.
As many as 29 persons were tested positive for the virus yesterday.
17 tested positive at RIMS while 12 tested positive at the district hospital and testing camp at Moijing High School.
Another two persons from Thoubal Moijing who got tested on their own at Babina Diagnostics were also confirmed for the virus.
The two are children of the attendant at RIMS who tested positive earlier.
They have been admitted at the COVID-19 Care Centre Thoubal at night yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Manipur University Registrar has also written to the Director, Health Services to conduct COVID test for staff posted at the faculty section and administrative block who had close contact with the multi-tasking staff from Thoubal Moijing Awang Leikai.
After a resident of Kumbi Thingel Leikai employed at a private diagnostic lab at Churachandpur tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, Dr L Gojendra Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Bishnupur district informed that his family members and contact are being traced both at Kumbi and Thinungei (residence of his married sister) .
All of them will be tested for the virus.
In the meantime, they have been advised to remain under strict home quarantine, said the CMO.
On the other hand, the number of cases in Kangpokpi has reached 257, out of which 101 have been cured and discharged.
The district now has 156 active cases.
A total of 4837 samples from the district have been tested.
There are 471 persons under home quarantine while 186 are at institutional quarantine centres.
7 persons are lodged at community quarantine centres, reports our correspondent.
In Churachandpur, Chief Medical Officer of the district has issued a public notice directing all individuals who visited Advance Diagnostics, IB Road, near ZEO Western Gate between July 11 and 20 to report to the CMO (8732012693 & 8413853322) and DC (Deputy Commissioner) office (8974452664).These individuals must maintain strict home quarantine until they are tested and results are known, said the notice.
