Blast rocks Ukhrul ADC office

Unidentified persons triggered a blast at the office of Autonomous District Council (ADC), Ukhrul located in Ukhrul district HQs in the wee hours today.
According to police report, the armed attackers hurled two crude bombs from behind the double-storeyed office building that used to be the office of Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul.
Of the two crude bombs, one exploded at around 2.30 am today.
The other unexploded bomb has been retrieved by the police.
No one was hurt in the blast.
But the window panes of the office building have been shattered.
The said ADC office building is said to be guarded by VDF personnel and the Mini Secretariat complex is located just opposite to the blast site.
No UG groups have so far claimed responsibility for the blast and whether the attack is related to monetary demand on the ADC members or by the group which are opposed to ADC election is yet to be established, the police said.
It may be recalled that on May 28 last morning, a powerful car bomb exploded in front of the temporary ADC offices located inside Khuman Lampak Sports complex.
The incident had left three members of a family, a mother and her two daughters, wounded.
