Thoubal, December 22 2021:
Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar has categorically stated that the National People's Party (NPP) focuses on the upliftment of youth, women and peace so as to bring about an egalitarian society in Manipur and the North East region at large.
Addressing a political conference of NPP at Thoubal Khunou today, the Deputy Chief Minister said that a section of people consider BJP and Congress as the major contenders of the ensuing Assembly election given the intense flag campaigns being carried out in the State by the two parties.
However, it is not the intensity of the flag campaigns that would decide the fate of the party in the election, Joykumar said and asserted that NPP, which also is a National party, has been concentrating on people oriented programmes while BJP and Congress are in heated arguments against one another.
Saying that NPP doesn't believe in violence and will always uphold secularism, Joykumar urged all the intending candidates of the party to carry out its election campaign with utmost honesty and shun violence at all times.
Claiming that most of the poll related violence in Manipur involve BJP and Congress, the Deputy Chief Minister contended that politicians indulging in violent tactics is a sign of weakness and lack of confidence.
The objectives of the NPP is to push the infrastructure projects, improve education and health sectors, provide clean water to the people and empower youth and women, he said.
Asserting that empty promises cannot bring development whatsoever, Joykumar maintained that the party will surely work on revamping the education sector, even if all its assurances could not be delivered.
NPP Manipur general secretary Sheikh Noorul Hasaan stated that NPP will emerge as the single largest in the 2022 Assembly election by winning over 40 seats.
Intending candidates of NPP from Wangkhem AC Laishram Domen Khuman also attended the programme.
