Chief Minister for stern action against perpetrators of crimes against women

The Chief Minister O Ibobi has made it clear that those persons involved in committing crimes against women, including murder of women, which have become a daily occurrence, will not be spared by the government at any cost.
Replying to a Calling Attention Motion moved by CPI MLA N Mangi to assign the work of investigating the cases of crimes being committed to women to an investigating agency, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that the cases of killing of innocent women in the state has increased manifold recently which is very unfortunate.
All guilty persons will be dealt severely.
There will be no case of favouritism and nepotism.
But a person has to be proved guilty and accordingly punished by the Court.
A person cannot be simply caught and punished at will.
Quoting some examples where the state government has taken up punitive actions against those persons involved in committing crimes against women, the Chief Minister further stated that Ningombam Niranjan h/o Late Ningombam ongbi Dhanamanjuri and his father N Mohindro has been put under judicial custody for their alleged involvement in killing Ningombam ongbi Dhanamanjuri.
But unfortunately her mother-in-law has been absconding till date.
Investigations is on to see whether the husband and her in-laws are actually involved in the act.
If they are found guilty, they will be dealt according to the laws of the land.
The Chief Minister also cited the case of Kaboklei of Bangoon Mayai Leikai who committed suicide by consuming poison.
Both her husband, Md Abdul Salam and her father-in-law Fayajuddin has been apprehended by police.
He also cited the case of one Basanti of Keinou Thongkhong where her husband Kh Bishwarjit and one Kh Tiken has been remanded under police custody for seven days.
He further informed the House that the state Home Department is trying its level best to control this type of crimes.
Sensitization programmes and seminars to control the crimes committed against women and children are also being conducted for the police officers and other related personnel.
