Imphal, August 20 2018: Act East Policy, Committee, Government of Manipur (India), in association with Indo Myanmar Fraternal Alliance organised Citizens' dialogue on the 'Prospects of Manipur and Sagaing Region', in light of India-Myanmar cross border Initiatives at Imphal Hotel, Imphal on Sunday.

Titular King Meidingu Leisemba Sanajaoba, King of Manipur and President, All Manipur Working Journalists' Union Brozendro Ningomba graced the inaugural function of the Citizens' dialogue as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

While delivering his speech, Meidingu Leisemba Sanajaoba stated that people should shun bandh and blockade, lets avail the opportunities of Indo-Myanmar cross border and focus towards development.

Bandh and Blockade only bring hindrance to development of the State.

We had witnessed our forefather's foresight 'nongpok thong hangkhini' on 8th August, 2018, the day where International Entry-Exit Checkpoint at Moreh-Tamu Border was officially opened.

As the Sagaing Region, Myanmar and Manipur, India will take vital part in this cross border opening, both the regions need to maintain good relations and bring development together.

Otherwise, neighbouring states may grape the opportunities.

We can't divert the different issues being faced by us, but it is better to find out solution by means of diplomatic and political means, the Chief Guest added.

Appreciating the government under the Chief Minister, Shri N.Biren and Act East Policy Committee's contribution in opening the International Entry-Exit Checkpoint at Moreh-Tamu Border, he expressed that he will urged to Chief Minister for construction of one Buddhist Guest House at Imphal for taking a sojourn by the Myanmar Buddhist who are going to Bodha Gaya, Bihar.

Director IPR, Government of Manipur Heisnam Balkrisna Singh gave welcome address and Convenor, Act East Policy Committee, Government of Manipur R.K.Shivachandra Singh delivered keynote of the occasion.

After the inaugural function of the Citizens' dialogue, there were three (3) Technical Sessions.

The theme of the first session was Academia Interface and Prospects of Collaborations.

Editor-in �Chief, Impact TV, Yumnam Rupachandra was the moderator.

Director Tourism W.Ibohal; Chairman Mizzima Foundation Soe Mynt, Executive Director of Fly Mya Company and Dr.Elangbam Bijoy, Professor, Manipur University were the Resource persons.

Entrepreneurs from inside and outside the State participated in the programme.

The Citizens' dialogue continues today at Sendra and the programme is being jointly organised by Act East Policy Committee and Business Excellence Group.
