Imphal, November 19 2011:
In view of the continued presence of long queues in front of oil pumps in spite of continuous distribution of petrol and diesel, the CAF &PD has devised a new mechanism for distributing petroleum products.
CAF &PD Director M Yaiskul said that the new mechanism would be introduced in Imphal East and Imphal West districts on trial basis from November 20 .
Under the new mechanism, all passenger buses would be given 40 litres of diesel for every three days.
Local trucks including those carrying sand, stone etc would be given 25 litres of diesel for every three days.
Tata Sumos and Tata Magic on passenger service would be given 15 litres and 20 litres of diesel respectively for every three days.
Four-wheeler private vehicles would be given 10 litres of diesel or petrol for every three days.

Three wheelers would be given 8 litres of petrol or diesel as the case might be and two wheelers would be given five litres of petrol for every three days.
The new mechanism was devised to do away with the current practice of panic buying which the Government think is responsible for the long queues in front of oil pumps.
Vehicles coming to fill petrol/diesel in oil pumps, should bring along their RC Books as CAF&PD officials would paste a seal on them for filling petrol or diesel.
Once a vehicle has been filled with fuel, it can be re-filled only on the fourth day, said CAF &PD Director M Yaiskul.
