Governor interacts with DCs

Imphal, December 18 2021: Governor La Ganesan interacted with Deputy Commissioners of Ukhrul, Kamjong, Tamenglong and Noney districts at Raj Bhavan, here today.

During the interaction programme, the Deputy Commissioners presented powerpoints on the status and implementation of various Government schemes/programmes in their respective districts.

At the programme, La Ganesan said that he had visited most of the districts and had fruitful interaction with the district administrations.

He urged the Deputy Commissioners to write letters on the immediate needs in their districts so that appropriate action can be taken up accordingly.

Ukhrul DC Krishna Kumar, while highlighting various activities taken up by the district administration, informed that a total 45,297 doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the district.

The district administration has also distributed 4022 CMHT and 26,879 PMJAY cards.

So far, 9130 people have enrolled for e-Shram in the district, the Ukhrul DC said and informed that 4 kg of opium in 20 packets and 48 grams of brown sugar were also seized and 1733 acres of poppy plantation were destroyed.

Kamjong DC Rang Peter informed the Governor that Kamjong district was bifurcated from Ukhrul on December 8, 2016.While presenting the Covid vaccination status, he said that 12,094 people in the district have been given the first dose of vaccine while another 8027 have been fully vaccinated in the district.

The DC also drew attention of the Governor to establish one college in the district and renovate existing schools.

The DC also made a proposal for the extension of NH-102A from Nampisha to Kashung-Bungtung via Kangpat Khunou, Kangpat Khullen and Kangkum (about 30 km) which will connect NH-102A (Shangshak-Tengnoupal road) and district headquarters with Kasom sub-division.

The construction of transit accommodation for doctors and teachers at Kamjong is also nearing completion, the DC said.

Tamenglong DC Worshang Hungyo said that Tamenglong-Mahur road is being constructed without giving any compensation as people sacrificed their land for development of the district.

After the completion of the project, Tamenglong will have two National Highways, the DC said.

Construction of Tamenglong-Khongsang road, on the other hand, will be completed by July, 2022.Noney DC Haulianlal Guite informed that there is no case of Covid in Noney.

Staff quarters at Noney PHC are ready for inauguration while a PSA Oxygen plant at CHC Nungba has started functioning.

The DCs were accompanied by Superintendents of Police of the respective districts.

CSOs of Tamenglong district which attended the interaction programme highlighted the issues besieging the district and urged the Governor to address their plight.
