Imphal, June 18 2011:
Even though investigation in the powerful bomb blast inside the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex office of Autonomous District Council (ADC) has led to identification of atleast two individuals who owned the Maruti car, the type of explosive used in the blast cannot be established at the Manipur Police Forensic Science laboratory located at Pangei.
According to a police source, original owner of the bomb-fitted car has been identified and subsequently pulled up followed by the individual's revelation reportedly naming another person.
Mention may be made that on May 28 a powerful explosion inside the ADC offices of Senapati, Chandel, Ukhrul and Tamenglong districts left three of a family seriously wounded in addition to causing partial damage to the office complex.
The bomb-fitted car, used in the blast, is informed to have been sold/resold on more 2/3 occasions with the police closing in on the latest owner, who has not yet registered the car in his name.
The source also disclosed that vital parts of the car have been sent to a Kolkata-based forensic science laboratory for further examination on the type of explosives used in the blast as the Pangei laboratory is not equipped to precisely confirm the material.
However, the Pangei laboratory has placed its preliminary findings to police authorities, it added.
