5 held for sexually assaulting minor

Imphal, May 18 2016: In yet another case of sexual assault meted out to a minor girl, police have arrested five youths.

A reliable source said that after the 15-year-old girl narrated her ordeal to her mother, a formal complaint was lodged at Imphal West women police station against the five youths.

The compliant said that on May 14 at around 5 pm, one of her friends who came with four other unknown youths in two cars asked the girl to have some snacks at Heirangoithong.

After she went out with the youth, the girl failed to return till 7 pm.

When her mother enquired the girl about her whereabouts, the girl told her mother that she was at Singjamei and she would return soon.

As she did not return home even after waiting for some minutes, the mother tried to make another call.

However, the girl's phone was found kept in switch off mode.

Later, the worried mother informed Singjamei police to trace the young girl.

Later in the night, the mother received a phone call from Singjamei police informing that her daughter had been rescued and five youths arrested.

The five youths have been identified as Hodam Simson (22) s/o H Jagadananda of Uripok Ahanthem Leikai, Ronald Ningombam (18) s/o Imo of Sagolband Tera, Sagolsem Sidharth Singh (18) s/o S Sanjit of Tera Amudon Leirak, Irom Manish (20) s/o Irom Motilal of Keishampat Laishram Leirak and Rajkumar Sanathoi (18) s/o RK Sanajaoba of Sagolband Bijoy Govinda.

The mother's complaint alleged that Ronald, Imo and Sanathoi forced her daughter to have an intoxicant and sexually assaulted her in a hotel at North AOC at around 11.55 pm on May 14 .

Medical examination of the girl was conducted at the Department of Forensic Medicine, RIMS on May 15 .

All the accused were produced before the Special Court POCSO by Imphal west women police station on May 15 under FIR number 30 (5) 2016 under Section 6 of POCSO Act.

The Court remanded them to police custody till May 21 .
