Nurses to launch strike

The Trained Nurses' Association, JNIMS is launching various forms of stir from March 20 against Government's failure to implement 7th Pay Commission.
In a statement today, the association said the decision to launch the stir from March 20 was taken during its executive meeting on February 27 chaired by its president Th Memcha Devi.
It said that the association has been repeatedly appealing to the JNIMS authority and Government to address the nurses' demands without any positive results till today.
Listing the demands made to the JNIM authority and the Government, the association said it has been appealing the JNIMS authority and the Government to implement the 7th Pay Commission notionally from January 1, 2016 effective from April 1, 2019 and encashment from April 1, 2021 .
It has also been urging the authorities concerned to implement the old pension scheme for employees who joined before 2004 (previously State health Service's employees who later joined JNIMS) .
Other demands include creation of various higher nursing posts relevant to the increasing bed strength, "implementation of MACP to JNIMS staff", revision of nursing allowance in 7th Pay and provision of uniform/dress allowance to nurses of JNIMS.
The association is holding sit-in protests from March 20 till fulfilment of the demands, it said in an ultimatum served to the Director JNIMS.
