Imphal, January 18 2022: A team of Imphal West commando and Imphal East district commando personnel carried out cordon and search operations in different parts of their respective districts as a part of their preventive security measures taken up ahead of Republic Day celebration and the upcoming State Assembly election.

In Imphal West, a team of Imphal West commandos carried out a cordon and search operation under the command of M Amit, Additional SP Operation, from Keisamthong Top Leirak to Keisamthong Ahanthem Leikai under Imphal police station this morning.

During the operation, more than 145 houses were thoroughly checked, more than 180 persons verified and 4 persons were detained who were subsequently handed over to Imphal police station for proper verification.

Further, the same team of Imphal West commando carried out another surprise cordon and search operation at Bora Galli stretch of Thangal Keithel covering areas of Ngari Galli, Kasturi stretch and Nagamapal area.

During the operation, more than 180 persons were verified and 6 persons who failed to produce identity proof were detained and handed over to City police for proper verification.

In Imphal East district, a team of Imphal East commando under the command of Kh Herojit, Additional SP Operation, carried out a cordon and search operation at Saichang village, Keihao village and Bongbal Khulen.

During this search operation, more than 50 houses were thoroughly checked and more than 150 persons were verified.

No one was picked up by the police team.
