Imphal, December 17 2024:
The Special Court NIA Manipur has allowed the National Investigation Agency to dispose of a rocket propelled grenade (ammunition) recovered from Kuki militants in Jiribam recently.
The ammunition along with a rocket propelled launcher were recovered by the police on November 11 in the aftermath of an attack launched by Kuki militants on security posts and a police station housing a relief camp for displaced people in Jakuradhor.
The attack resulted in the killing of 10 Kuki militants in retaliatory firing by the CRPF and police.
While one CRPF personnel sustained bullet injury, the militants abducted 6 women and children who were later found massacred.
While a case was earlier registered with the police, it was later handed over to the NIA for investigation.
In the Special Court of the NIA today, the Special Public Prosecutor submitted that seized RPG ammunition is required to be disposed of/detonated for further investigation and forensic analysis.
The Court, on perusal of the application, allowed the agency to dispose of the seized RPG .
