AMTU requests DoNER Minister for more projects in hills

The All Manipur Tribal Union (AMTU) has requested Union minister in charge of DoNER to Paban Singh Ghatowar for the setting up of various projects in the hill districts of Manipur.
AMTU leaders led by its president D.P Panmei and the union general secretary Romeo Bungdon met the visiting Union minister in Imphal on Sunday and submitted a memorandum.
It its memorandum submitted to Paban Singh Ghatowar, the AMTU requested the former to proposed for the setting up of a tribal cultural auditorium with a flamboyant tribal antiques and artifacts at Chandel district headquarters.
Another proposal of AMTU has been to establish a tribal super market at Tamenglong district headquarters.
The Union then proposed the minister to have a 50-bedded Primary Health Centre or a hospital at Tousem sub division of Tamenglong district.Other proposals of the AMTU to the DoNER minister are to have a 100-bedded hospital at Churachandpur and to construct a road between Parbung and New Lamka; setting up of a 5-bedded hospital at Phuba Centre in Senapati district' a public auditorium at Tamenglong and to have a mini sports complex at Thungcheng village of Chandel district.
Besides its proposals, AMTU highlighted in the memorandum about the plights faced by the people of Tamei subdivision, Chakpikarong of Chandel district and Phuba of Senapati district.
Meanwhile, tribal leaders in its meeting today held at Manipur Press Club have resolved to convened a seminar on tribal issues on November 9 and 10 at Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Imphal.
The leaders hailing from various tribal centric organisations deliberated issues pertaining to the Manipur tribals.
Leaders of ATWO, AHDEGSUM, TNAL, CDEF, COPTAM, AMTU, SMDC and public leaders participated in the meeting.
