AMTUC approves affiliation of PHED and Temporary Ema market unions

All Manipur Trade Unions Council (AMTUC) have approved the affiliation of All Manipur Public Health Engineering Department Employees and Workers Union, Public Health Engineering Department Workers and Employees Organisation and Marisuba Khwairamband Ema Keithel (Temporary Market) Lup to AMTUC.
The same was approved in an executive committee meeting convened today, said a press release by AMTUC.
The executive committee welcomed the affiliation of the above mentioned and thanked them for trusting AMTUC which is one of the most prominent trade unions in the State.
The main agendas which were discussed today included to appeal for the speedy release of pending EPF funds for employees of Engineering and other department and to ensure that sanitary workers and contract employees of Imphal Municipal Council avail the benefits of schemes like Employees State Insurance Corporation.
Further the meeting resolved to raise a dispute under Employees Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act-1952 for the release of EPF for more than 40 employees of Fish Farmers Development Agency under the Fishery Department and regarding their social security, added the press release.
The inconveniences faced by the women licenced vendors of Temporary market and women street vendors and to request the Manipur State Legal Services Authority to open a legal aid clinic in the temporary market to sensitize the vendors on important laws and legal formalities and to address their grievances and to help them accordingly in times of need were some of the issues which were discussed during the executive committee meeting, says AMTUC.
The meeting also discussed to take up steps to identify the licensed vendors, to help them in paying Municipality taxes, to make the market a Polythene Free market and to request the authorities concerned to construct a warehouse in the market.
