Imphal, July 17 2015 :
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has filed a PIL at the High Court of Manipur against the State Government's order to close all the educational institutes of the State indefinitely.
In a statement, the students' body said that the order violates Right to Education (RTE) of the students.
On the otherhand, DESAM also urged the student unions which have announced class boycott in all the Government Higher Secondary schools of Imphal area to revoke their decision in the interest of the students community.
Meanwhile taking series note of the prolonged closure of schools and colleges in the wake of the violent confrontation between protesters and police on the issue of enforcing ILPS or a similar mechanism in the State, the All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association (AMRPSWA) has urged the State Government to re-open all educational institutions from July 20 .
Speaking to media persons today, AMRPSWA secretary L Joy said that only one-third of the syllabus has been covered so far in most of the schools.
It would be hard to cover the remaining two-third before the end of the current academic year.
He expressed deep apprehension if students may be denied registration for class X exams on the ground of low attendance.
He maintained that young students should be kept away from mass protest movements as far as possible.
