SYC bans visit to Shirui Lily abode

Taking serious note of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Nationwide lockdown, the Shirui Youth Club (SYC), Ukhrul has put a ban on the visit of non-locals including tourists to the abode of Shirui lily at Kashong peak.
Shirui Lily is also the State flower.
SYC president Thotreichan Langkan said that the decision to ban the visit of outsiders to Shirui peak has been taken as this the season for the flower to bloom and this attracts many visitors every year.
The decision to ban the visit of others has been taken in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, he added.
The Club has also sealed the mountain ranges surrounding Shirui peak from the time the flowers started blooming to prevent trekking in the mountain area until Covid-19 is contained in the country.
The president of the Club further informed that they have also taken up different steps to beautify the mountain and seedling was done during April.
Transplantation of Lily saplings are underway in order to multiply the number of Shirui Lily at Kashong peak.
The village youth repair the footstep to the mountain peak from time to time for trekkers while also keeping a check on forest fire.
