Three children from the State, including one posthumous, are among the 25 children to be conferred the National Bravery Awards by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh this year on the eve of Republic Day.
Master Kangleinganba Kshetrimayum, Kumari Kha-ribam Gunichand Devi and Late Master M Khayingthei will receive the award.
Among the 25 awardees, 9 are girls while five awards will be given posthumously.
This was announced by Gita Siddhartha, President, ICCW, at a press conference organised at Indian Council for Child Welfare, New Delhi today, informed a PIB statement.
The awardees will receive a medal, certificate and cash.
Recipients will also be grant-ed financial assistance until they complete their schooling.
The President of India and several other dignitaries including Raksha Mantri will host reception in their honour.
Several States too orga- nise functions to honour them at State level.
Since the inception of the scheme in 1957, the Indian Council for Child Welfare has given awards to 871 brave Children-comprising 618 boys and 253 girls.
Besides the children receive their Awards from the Prime Minister of India prior to Republic Day 2014, the awardees will participate in the Republic Day Parade.
