Dimapur, November 16 2011:
The three Zeliangrong regions of the NSCN-IM including the Makuilongdi, Asalu and Zeilad have said they will not remain mute over the Chawangkining case where the Kukis have allegedly intruded there to form a village.
Chawangkining is located along the IT Road under Senapati district.
Things came to light a few days ago after the Southern Senapati Naga Villages Council, Manipur had asserted that a group of Kuki people from Kangpokpi area had encroached Chawangkining along the IT Road under Kangpokpi sub-division, Senapati district.
The Southern Senapati Naga Villages Council had also alleged that the chief of Chawangkining village along with the villagers tried to stop them but the Kuki group did not heed them and brought material to construct their houses without permission from the land owners.
Reacting strongly to this development, the Makuilongdi Zeliangrong Region, the Asalu Zeliangrong Region and Zeilad Zeliangrong Region of the NSCN-IM warned the encroachers (the Kukis) of dire consequences.
"We will defend our land at any cost," asserted the CAO of Makuilongdi Zeliangrong Region, NSCN-IM.
He termed the alleged encroachment as very unfortunate.
