Overcomers join hands with MACS Clients of rehab centres screened

Imphal, October 16 2023: A one-day awareness cum HIV/viral hepatitis, syphilis & TB testing camp was conducted at Reborn Rehabilitation Centre, Langol Game Village Zone 3 today.

Jointly organised by "The Overcomers" in association with the Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS), the programme witnessed the participation of volunteers and clients from nine private rehabilitation centres and one CBO (community-based organization) namely Community Network for Empowerment (CoNE) .

A total of 119 people participated in the programme with 54 getting their screening tests done.

The screening procedure was conducted by an experts team from MACS.

Meanwhile, Phillip Laishram, ART Centre of Excellence, RIMS and RK Nolinikanta of CoNE educated the gathering on the said topic.

The Overcomers have expressed their gratitude to the Project Director, officials and team of MACS for their support in successfully organising the outreach camp for the inmates of rehabilitation centres and other population groups.

Such outreach, awareness and testing camps will enhance the accessibility to HIV and other Blood Borne Infections (BBIs) testing along with treatment, care and support and promote health seeking behaviors in the State, it said.
