Robinhood inquiry JCILPS convener deposes

Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) convener-in-charge Khomdram Ratan today deposed before the Judicial Inquiry commission constituted to probe the circumstances that led to the death of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy student Sapam Robinhood during a pro-ILPS agitation on July 8 .
The commission is headed by Justice (Retired) Mutum Binoy Kumar.
Ratan and two other persons gave their statements from the side of the victim in the presence of the counsels of the commission, victim and police during the fifth sitting of the commission held at the conference hall of State Guest House today.
The three witnesses were cross examined by the counsel, who represented the State police.
Family members of Sapam Robindhood and JAC members were also present at today's inquiry sitting.
11 witnesses including two commission witnesses have given their statements so far while two other commission witnesses will give their statements tomorrow.
The first sitting of the inquiry commission was held on October 5 .
During the fourth sitting held earlier, eight witnesses appeared before the commission.
Seven witnesses who had submitted their affidavits to the commission in favour of the State police will also depose before the commission in the days to come.
The inquiry commission was constituted on August 1 .
It may be mentioned that Sapam Robinhood died in police action on a group of students who tried to march towards the State Legislative Assembly demanding implementation of ILPS in the State on July 8 .
