Imphal, August 16 2014 :
The labourers of the Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAF&PD) objected RK Fortune Developer Pvt Ltd Director RK Rameshwor's move of sacking the labourers, who were demanding enforcement of the hiked new wage.
Briefing media persons at Sangiprou Godown today, the secretary of the CAF & PD Labour Association, Romendrajit Moirangcha stated that the Managing Director of the RK Fortune Developer Pvt.
Ltd RK Rameshwor has not implemented the revised labourers' wage, which was fixed by the State Government on August 1, 2014, yet.
Romendrajit added that the labourers had requested the Managing Director to provide them the new revised wage but to no avail.
He said that instead of fulfilling the labourers' demand, the Managing Director has initiated a move to disengage the long suffered labourers without giving any reason.
The secretary termed the move as senseless as well as violation of the rights of the labourers.
Romendrajit alleged that RK Fortune Developer Pvt.
Ltd was selected as contractor without tender.
As such, the secretary demanded cancellation of the contract of RK Rameshwor along with his firm RK Fortune Developer Pvt.
Ltd and select a new contractor.
On the other hand, the Managing Director of the RK Fortune Developer Pvt Ltd, RK Rameshwor in a press meet held at Manipur Press Club condemned the attack on his house by a group of stone pelting people on August 14 last.
Clarifying on the news report published on August 15 edition of local dailies, Rameshwor said that he had never disengaged the long suffered labourers.
He further clarified that news report of giving only Rs 4 out of the Rs 24 was also wrong as there was no such practice of reduction of wage from the labourers.
Rameshwor said that he would engage new labourers as loading and unloading of food grains must continue in the interest of the general public.
However, he further said, the long suffered labourers may join their work any time if they wish.
