Imphal, March 16 2016:
Expressing deep concern over the alleged inordinate delay in declaring the final results for recruitment of Assistant Professor for college, interview of which was completed in January, the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has cautioned that it will not remain a silent spectator if prompt action is not initiated for declaration of the results.
In a statement, Micah Kamei, information and publicity secretary of ATSUM said that the State Cabinet meeting held on September 2, 2014 approved the creation of 418 posts of Asst Professors for 28 Government colleges under Higher Education and direct recruitment of 285 vacant posts of Asst Professors for 28 Government colleges under higher education through MPSC.
Subsequently, the MPSC advertised for direct recruitment of 280 Asst Professors in November 2014 for which screening test was conducted on October 27, 2015 and interview of the successful candidates was held in January 2016 .
The fact that many vacant seats of teaching posts in various Government colleges of the State are not filled up promptly is an indication of the Government's pathetic attitude to the growth and development of higher education, it said.
It also mentioned that the Supreme Court of India had recently issued a ruling that recruitment in Government services be completed within six months from the last date of issuing of forms.
