Bomb lobbed at residence of MLA K Vashum

Ukhrul, September 15 2024:
A bomb exploded at the residence of Transport Minister Khashim Vashum at Hamleikhong, Ukhrul last night at around 8.40 .
Khasim Vashum is from the Naga People's Front, an ally of ruling BJP in Manipur.
No one was injured in the explosion.
Who lobbed the bomb, is also not known yet.
Walls and some other parts of the house were damaged in the explosion.
The locals said that they saw a white vehicle parked near the residential complex of the Minister for some time before the explosion.
A team of Ukhrul police led by Officer-in charge Chuingam rushed to the site of the explosion and took stock of the situation.
Chuingam stated that the bomb is suspected to be a hand grenade, and some splinters have been collected from the site for further examination.
The Ukhrul police have checked the CCTV footage in the surrounding areas to establish details of the incident after registering a suo moto case.
Tight security measures have also been taken up in the area.
The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) termed the bomb attack as an act of cowardice.
In a statement, TNL said that the group or individual responsible for the attack must surrender themselves before they are apprehended.
TNL also urged the police to expedite the investigation and take up necessary actions against the perpetrators.
Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long, Raphei Katamnao Long also condemned the bomb attack at the residence of Khasim Vashum.
Meanwhile, Shimreingam Zimik has condemned the bomb attack at the residence of Khashim Vashum on behalf of Naga People Front (Chingai block) .
He urged the law enforcing agency to book the perpetrators at the earliest.
Family members of Khashim Vashum stated lobbing a bomb at residential areas will endanger the lives of innocent people.
They appealed to the organisation or individual responsible for the attack to settle their issue or misunderstanding if they have any with the Minister through a dialogue, they So far no organisation has claimed responsibility for the bomb attack.
