Imphal, February 15 2016:
One teacher of Chairen High School, Chairen Makha Leikai has been found signing on the school's attendance register till February 28 even though today is February 15 .
Speaking to media persons at their Keishampat office today, DESAM vice-president A Anand said that Chairen High School has seven teachers and 72 students.
Out of the seven teachers, one has taken leave for two years for pursuing BEd course while a lady teacher has taken maternity leave.
The school commenced its session from January 11 and the attendance register showed that one teacher named Tiken was absent from January 11 to 31.Tiken came to the school on February 11 and signed on the attendance register till February 28, Anand said.
Although February 15 is State holiday for Lui-Ngai-Ni festival wile February 14, 21 and 28 are Sundays, Tiken signed on the attendance registers against these dates.
Expressing astonishment on how Headmaster Joykumar allowed the particular teacher to sign on the attendance register on Sundays, holidays, future dates and dates on which he did not attend the school, Anand sought immediate attention f the Education Minister and the Education Director.
One major factor for mushrooming of private schools at the cost of Government schools is dereliction of duties by Government teachers.
Pointing out that Chairen High School is suffering from many shortages, Anand urged authorities concerned to look into the matter.
He said that DESAM would continue its inspection drive of educational institutions.
