Imphal, December 14 2020:
For the first time since its creation, Kamjong district would host a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
The scheduled Cabinet meeting at Kamjong district headquarters is in line with the decision of the BJP led Government to take Cabinet meetings to the hill districts headquarters.
Notably, Kamjong was among the seven new districts created by the State Government in 2016 .
Kamjong district has just one Assembly Constituency namely; Phungyar which was represented for several terms till 2000 by none other than late Chief Minister Rishang Keishing.
Late Wungnaoshang Keishing represented the Assembly segment from 2002 to 2012 and he was succeeded by Victor Keishing (2012-17) .
All three of them hailed from Kamjong.
Currently, Phungyar AC is represented by K Leishiyo who hails from Kasom subdivision.
December 16 will be historic for Kamjong district as it would host a Cabinet meeting for the first time on the particular date.
The scheduled Cabinet meeting would also give a rare opportunity to the people of Kamjong district to interact with Chief Minister N Biren.
Several development works/projects taken up and completed at the initiative of MLA K Leishiyo during the last three years would be inaugurated by the Chief Minister in addition to laying foundation stones for some new projects.
Chassad/Kamjong police station, District Forest Office, Kamjong High School (School Fagathansi), Kasom Khullen sub-division water supply scheme, Khonjal water supply scheme, model village guest house at Nambisa, barrack type teachers' quarters, boys and girls hostels, central water reservoir, pavilion of Nambisa playground and Ramrei rain water harvesting project are the projects/ works which would be inaugurated by the Chief Minister.
Ima (Ava) market shed at Kamjong district headquarters, Chatrik Khullen to Gambal road construction work, bailey bridges over Tuyungbi River, Maklang River and Changkong River, power sub-stations at Nambisa and Nambasi etc are some of the projects/ works for which N Biren would lay foundation stones on Wednesday.
But the mini-secretariat, Sahampung SDO/BDO office and Kamjong to Huimin Thana road would be inaugurated later as they are incomplete at the moment.
Presently, Kamjong district headquarters is devoid of any proper infrastructure.
There is no proper office of the Deputy Commissioner.
In the absence of any SDO office at Kamjong, the SDO has been functioning from Ukhrul.
The hall where the Cabinet meeting would be held has been renovated by MLA K Leishiyo in collaboration with the DC.
