Imphal, November 14 2013:
Demanding the Govt to rectify its order wherein obtaining approval from the Tribal Affairs and Hills Dept for recruitment/appointment to Grade III and IV posts under District Council is made mandatory and imposition of 200 points roster as per the reservation policy of the State Govt, the Emboi Serto led All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has warned of imposing indefinite hill districts bandh from midnight of Nov 19 if the Govt insists on enforcing the same order.
A statement issued by the president of ATSUM Emboi Serto and secretary Marahang Ngiimai pointed out that it had already submitted a memorandum to the Govt demanding the rectification of the said order.
ATSUM will not compromise on the issue unless the Govt rectifies the orders, it said.
This Govt is talking about devolution of powers to the ADC but the restriction/resolution and order really devolve or centralise Powers, the ATSUM (ES) statement asked.
If at all the Govt insists on conducting the DPC by strictly following the 200-point roster, than what is the use of having the Manipur Hill Area District Council Act, the ATSUM (ES) statement asked while adding that the Govt must also understand the ADC office is not a dept, but an autonomous body which has its own Acts and Rules.
Meanwhile, a separate statement issued by Kuki Students' Organisation (Ghqs) pledged to put up strong opposition to the Govt's order to impose 200 point roster and mandatory approval of the Govt for appointment of Chowkidars cum peons in schools under ADC.
A statement issued by KSO Vice-president, Mangcha Baite said the students' body would be compelled to take up various forms of agitation if the Govt fails to withdraw the earlier orders and issue a corrigendum at the earliest.
