11 family members of AI pilot to be tested

Imphal, April 14 2020:
All family members of the Air India pilot whose father-in-law tested positive for COVID-19 in Meghalaya would be tested for the same virus at RIMS.
Notably, the pilot hails from Manipur.
According to a press note issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, the pilot who returned from New York last month stayed at three nights at Imphal from March 17 to 19 .
Even though none of his family members has shown any symptom of COVID-19, they have been put under surveillance and they would be tested at RIMS.
In an official communique to the Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, the Health Commissioner of Meghalaya said that the son-in-law of the patient who is a pilot with Air India travelled from New York to Delhi on March 15 and on March 17 he travelled from Delhi to Imphal.
On March 20, he travelled from Imphal to Delhi and on March 24, he travelled from Delhi to Shillong.
He was placed under home quarantine after he registered with the Government from March 24 to April 7, said the communique and added that the State Surveillance team visited him during the quarantine period.
Sources informed that the Health Department would pick up the pilot's family members and they would be tested at RIMS tomorrow.
On the other hand, a high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Biren today discussed about quarantining State natives who would return to the State after the ongoing lockdown is lifted.
The meeting which was attended by DCs, high ranking officials of health and other departments also discussed about opening quarantine centres in some Assembly Constituencies in consultation with MLAs.
