Many welcome ILP system

Amidst the protests against Citizenship Act in the North-East region, many in the State today welcomed the Inner Line Permit system which was extended to Manipur on Wednesday.
The extension of the Inner Line Permit system to Manipur is a result of the people's movement and hardship every organisations, CSOs, student bodies endured for years, said Human Rights Defender Manipur (HRDM) chairman Joy Chingakham today welcoming the system that promises to protect the indigenous people's identity and interests.
Speaking to media persons at HRDM office, Joy Chingakham lauded the Centre for the move and urged the authorities concerned to mend the porous borders of the State.
Required infrastructure and authorities should be installed at Jessami, Mao, Jiribam, Churachandpur and Moreh border areas to successfully implement the Inner Line Permit system, he said appealing the Centre to conduct NRC to identify illegal immigrants and deport them.
He remembered Lamjing Meira Robinhood, and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
He also expressed condoled the killing of three in Assam protests against Citizenship Act.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Muslim Girl Students' Union has also welcomed the ILP extended to the State.
It also appealed the State authority for proper implementation of the system to safeguard the indigenous people.
It may be mentioned that the Inner Line Permit System was extended to Manipur amidst protests against the introduction of the CAB in the Parliament.
