Karam Shyam assures PMKAY foodgrains till Nov

Imphal, July 13 2020: CAF & PD Minister Karam Shyam assured that NFSA cardholders will continue getting their rightful foodgrains under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMKAY) scheme from July to November 2020 .

He was speaking at a press conference held at his Old Secretariat office today.

Speaking to media persons, Karam Shyam stated that the economic condition of the country has been drastically hit by the Covid-19 outbreak affecting the lives of almost one crore 30 lakh people globally.

The crisis has also posed a serious threat to the livelihood of the farmers and labourers of the country who work at the grassroots level, he said.

He appreciated the role of FPS agents, DSOs and DCs in rendering selfless service to the public by distributing PDS items during this time of pandemic.

Karam Shyam handed over an honorarium amounting to Rs 2,48,64,912 to the District Supply Officers of 46 Assembly Constituencies for 6 months period as a mark of recognition and encouragement for rendering public service responsibly during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Five districts i.e, Tamenglong, Senapati, Chandel, Noney and Tengnoupal are still yet to receive the margin money honorarium.

Commissioner CAF & PD Bobby Waikhom, Director CAF & PD Ranjan Yumnam and DSO officials of the districts concerned were also present during the press briefing.
