Two killed in mishaps

Imphal, June 13 2011:
At least two people have been killed in road related accidents that occurred along Imphal-Churachandpur stretch of the National Highway 150 today.
According to police report, the first mishap occurred at around 9.30 am today near Thinungei Makha Leikai in which a man who came riding a motorcycle was knocked down by a mini passenger bus coming from Churachandpur to Imphal.
The injured motorcyclist identified as Laishram Birachandra (35) of Ningthou khong Mathak Leikai Sorok Mapal Ward no.3 was rushed to Shija Hospital for treatment.
But he succumbed to the injuries.
In the second mishap which took place at around 2.50 pm, a cyclist was knocked down by a passenger bus near Thouda Bhavok Leikai along Sega Road of the same National Highway.
The identity of the cyclist who died on the spot is yet to be confirmed.
Police have picked up the body and kept at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital.
Police have seized the bus involved in the mishap.
But the driver escaped after the incident.
