CCpur, November 12 2021:
A single day spike in Covid-19 cases on Wednesday in Churachandpur has sparked panic as local authorities scrambled to remind that reopening of schools was only for classes IX and above.
The district has on 10 November recorded 18 new Covid-19 cases after a lull for over a week.
The fact that 17 of the new cases are children has sparked panic as schools have began experimenting physical classes.
The 17 children, sources said, are all from a children home.
Officials are working to get all their close contacts tested, it is said.
It is understood that the district administration has scrambled several stake holders yesterday, days after the issue was discussed, to overhaul the same.
As discussed in a meeting held yesterday in the conference hall of the DC office's mini-secretariat wherein all stake holders were consulted, the DC has ordered that reopening of all schools, colleges and other educational institutes shall be only from class IX and above.
'There shall be no physical classes for classes below IX,' it added.
Those schools where classes have been reopened for classes IX and above should strictly maintain Covid SoP and other requirements laid down by the local authorities including maintaining of vaccination status of its staff and provision to provide isolation facilities and tie up with the medical authorities in case of emergency.
The students who have been tested positive include 15 girls and two boys.
