PREPAK pays rich tribute to 'Martyrs'

Imphal, November 12 2015:
The proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) on Thursday observed the Martyrs Day with various hills and valley communities in the State.
The outfit began observing the day since November 12, 1979.The main event of the day was organised in the evening when people lit lights in their homes and paid rich floral tributes to the graves of those martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for the cause of Manipur's independence.
The outfit observed the martyrs day at its Central Headquarter (CHQ), General Headquarter (GHQ), Tactical Headquarter (THQ), Base areas, Transit camps and other training centres.

During the observation held at GHQ, Organisation Secretary PREPAK Michael Luwang attended as Chief Guest and Defense Secretary Aheiba Angom as President.
The Chief Guest lit the inauguration light while the President hoisted the outfit's seven coloured flag and condoled the demise of all who had sacrificed their lives for Manipur.
The cadres also observed a two-minute silence and sang 11 Character songs before giving the final revolutionary gun salute to the martyrs.
PREPAK also expressed its gratitude to the people who had observed the day and further vowed to continue its "independence struggle against the imperialist India" till the last minute.
It may be mentioned that a combined force of Manipur Police, led by Sub Inspector Sunil Sharma and his Assistant Sub-Inspector Naorem Shyamjai Singh and CRPF led by Commandant Narendra Pal attacked the transit camp of PREPAK at Leimarok of Kameng in November 12, 1978.PREPAK cadres namely, Ayekpam Dhiren alias Angam of Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai, Phurailatpam Kabikanta alias Leimu alias Leingam of Sagolband Meino Leirak and PLA cadre Pukhrambam Gambhir Singh of Kakwa Naorem Leikai were killed during the encounter.
In another incident happened in November 12 1985, few members of the outfit tried to overpower and snatch weapons from the 7th Manipur Rifles personnel who were posted at Sugar Mill, Kabo Wakching.
The outfit's leader RK Tullachandra sacrificed his life at the incident.
Combining the Kameng and Kabo Wakching incidents, PREPAK and its army wing Red Army started observing November 12 as Martyrs Day to pay tributes to all the martyrs who had sacrificed in the war of Manipur's sovereignty.
